Epiphone Parts Guide: Which Replacement Parts Fit Your Epiphone?

Faber makes replacement bridges, bridge posts, stop tailpieces, tailpiece studs, bushings, saddles and wraparound bridges for Epiphone guitars. The tailpiece side is simple: every Epiphone uses METRIC M8 x 1.25 tailpiece studs, and every TP-59 fits every Epiphone. The bridge side depends on your bridge posts: large bushing mounted posts (most Epiphones, including regular Inspired by Gibson models), direct mounted 4mm posts, or the original 4mm posts on Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Custom (IGC) models, which take the ABRM as a drop-in replacement.

Check your posts first, then pick your parts.

Quick check: which Epiphone do you have?

  • Large bushing mounted bridge posts (most Epiphone Les Paul, SG and ES models, and every regular Inspired by Gibson model): the posts thread into large metal bushings pressed into the top. Bridge section
  • Direct mounted bridge posts: 4mm posts screw straight into the wood, with no bushing. Bridge section
  • Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Custom (IGC): the ABRM drops right onto the original 4mm IGC posts, no conversion posts needed. IBG-Sert posts are the alternative. The one exception is the IGC Les Paul Custom, which uses large bushing mounted posts. Bridge section
  • Wraparound bridge (one-piece bridge and tailpiece, such as Junior and Special models): Wraparound section

The parts of an Epiphone bridge and tailpiece

Labeled Faber replacement parts for an Epiphone: stop tailpiece, Tone-Lock studs, spacers, bridge, saddles, lock nut and tool
  1. Stop tailpiece (TP-59): anchors the strings behind the bridge.
  2. Tailpiece studs (Tone-Lock METRIC shown): hold the tailpiece and thread into the tailpiece bushings in the body.
  3. Tone-Lock spacers: set the tailpiece height.
  4. Bridge (Tone-Lock bridge shown): sits on the two bridge posts.
  5. Saddles: where the strings cross the bridge. Each one moves to set intonation.
  6. Intonation screws: move each saddle forward or back.
  7. Lock nut: locks the Tone-Lock bridge to the post.
  8. Lock Nut/Tailpiece Stud Tool: tightens the lock nuts and tailpiece studs without marring the plating.

Not shown: the bridge posts and thumb wheels, the saddle retaining rings, and the bushings in the body. Each is covered below.

Bridge

Faber makes two Epiphone bridge lines: the ABRM bridge and the Tone-Lock bridge. They’re separate designs. The Tone-Lock bridge locks to its posts with lock nuts, and the ABRM does not.

ABRM bridge

For large bushing mounted posts, the ABRM comes in an “E-Z” version and a “Plus” version.

For direct mounted 4mm posts, the ABRM fits your existing posts:

Tone-Lock bridge

The Tone-Lock bridge locks to its posts with a pair of 4mm lock nuts, so the bridge stays put during string changes.

Bridge posts and conversion posts

Large bushing mounted posts: ESWKIT and E-Sert

These conversion posts thread into your existing large bushings, with M8 x 1.25 threads on the bottom and 4mm threads on top for the bridge.

Inspired By Gibson Custom: IBG-Sert

Optional: the ABRM fits the original IGC posts as they are. To replace those posts with German bell brass, or to use the #3031-IBG Tone-Lock bridge, choose IBG-Sert:

Stop tailpiece

Faber TP-59 lightweight aluminum stop tailpiece

Every TP-59 fits every Epiphone. The aluminum TP-59 weighs 1.01 oz, 1/3 the weight of a typical 3.2 oz zinc tailpiece.

Tailpiece studs and bushings

Every Epiphone, including Inspired by Gibson and Inspired By Gibson Custom models, uses METRIC M8 x 1.25 tailpiece studs. You don’t have to replace your studs to fit a TP-59, but these are the upgrades.

Tone-Lock METRIC locking tailpiece studs

Tone-Lock studs and spacers make one solid connection from the top of the stud to the body bushing, so the tailpiece stays in place during string changes.

Precision tailpiece studs (METRIC)

TPM steel metric tailpiece bushings

Steel bushings for the tailpiece studs. Read more on Faber® TPM Steel Metric Tailpiece Bushings.

Saddles

Faber saddles come with starter positioning notches, so you can notch them to your string gauge. The bridge holds them in place with saddle retaining rings. These sets fit Faber Epiphone bridges:

Wraparound Epiphones

Junior and Special style Epiphones use a one-piece wraparound bridge on two METRIC studs.

A Master Kit puts a Tone-Lock bridge, posts, TP-59 tailpiece and Tone-Lock METRIC studs in one box.

The bridge and posts depend on whether your Epiphone has large bushing mounted posts, direct mounted 4mm posts or IBG-Sert posts.

Are Faber parts made by Epiphone?

No. Faber parts are replacement parts made by Faber, designed to fit Epiphone guitars. They replace the factory bridge, posts, tailpiece and studs.

Will a TP-59 tailpiece fit my Epiphone?

How do I tell if my Epiphone has large bushing mounted or direct mounted bridge posts?

What bridge posts does an Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Custom guitar use?

Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Custom models use the smaller IBG-Sert posts. Their original 4mm posts also take the Faber ABRM as a drop-in replacement, with no conversion posts. The one exception is the IGC Les Paul Custom, which uses large bushing mounted posts.

Will the Faber ABRM fit my Epiphone IGC guitar?

Yes. The Faber #3060-0 ABRM is a drop-in replacement on the original 4mm posts of Epiphone Inspired By Gibson Custom (IGC) guitars. It drops right onto those posts, with no conversion posts and no changes to the guitar. The exception is the IGC Les Paul Custom, which has large bushing mounted posts and takes the large bushing mounted ABRM “E-Z” or “Plus” instead. For a locking bridge, IBG-Sert posts with the #3031-IBG Tone-Lock bridge are the alternative.
